- A sector between river, countryside and forest
Sainte-Marthe is distinguished by its much more rural character than several other areas of Trois-Rivières. More than 70% of the territory is devoted to agroforestry activity or natural environments, while only 20% is residential or commercial.
- The St. Lawrence River and the Chemin du Roy
The Chemin du Roy crosses the area and offers views of the river. The riparian landscape is one of the strong characteristics of Sainte-Marthe, with a historical presence of navigation and recreational activities related to water.
-An important historical and rural heritage
Sainte-Marthe-du-Cap was esta...blished as an independent municipality in 1915. There are still rural houses from the 19th century and traces of its agricultural past. The sector was also marked by the former Red Mills red ochre industry, active from 1892 to 1966.
- Large natural environments
The Red Mill peat bog, which covers more than 1,300 hectares, is one of the major natural elements of the area and is home to several endangered or vulnerable species. More than 400 hectares are protected. There is also the green space of the Marthelinois with hiking, cycling and snowshoeing trails.
- A family residential area, very close to the city
Sainte-Marthe has about 7,500 inhabitants and is less than 10 km from the city center. The area is characterized by a high proportion of single-family homes, a peaceful residential atmosphere and several parks, including Roger Guilbault Park.
- In summary: Sainte-Marthe-du-Cap stands out above all for its rural and residential character, its landscapes on the St. Lawrence, its natural environments, its heritage and its proximity to the center of Trois-Rivières
