Why is it, as the cold winter months and strong winds come near, many people imagine themselves wrapped up in a blanket next to a crackling fireplace in a typical Canadian home nestled in the forest? Because it provides warmth and simple pleasures, of course. The rustic style is so beautiful!
In the olden days, almost every home had a rustic decor. However, in the early 1900s, new materials arrived and won over consumers, like pre-finished panels, concrete, vinyl, steel, melamine and aluminum. Using these materials meant being fashionable; especially in urban areas. But, the rustic style survived.
Imagine a blue colour throughout a bathroom; an all-white dining room; a completely yellow bedroom; and, a lounging area dressed in green, from floor to ceiling. This includes the walls, floor, ceiling, and even the furniture and fabrics. Intriguing, don’t you think?
No matter the colour you choose, a monochrome colour scheme always makes a striking impression. We are left speechless in front of such harmony. Let’s face it: it’s perfect harmony, but you have to be bold to try it. A monochrome design commands admiration.
Its look varies from one colour to the next. Violet creates a deep and intimate atmosphere, while an all-white space conveys inclusiveness and airiness. Continue reading →
Teenagers might say they know how to decorate their bedroom, but most of the time, they’re unsure. Other times, they just don’t know. And watch out if you even dare suggest something! Parents say they know how their teenagers want to decorate their bedroom, but usually, it’s according to their own taste. So, how should you go about it?
The heart of adolescence, when teenagers seek to forge their own identity, happens roughly between 10 and 16 years old. For some, it’s sooner. For others, it’s later.

A well-designed backyard is so inviting! You’ll want to spend hours outside. Are you looking for ideas? Here’s a list of decorative details that will make your recreational space the ideal place to enjoy life.
Trees are the focal point of any outdoor design. Choose your tree species carefully because they don’t offer the same decorative potential. The tortured trunk of an oak tree, the slender trunk of a poplar tree and the drooping branches of a weeping willow tree look nothing alike. If there’s already a tree in your backyard, why not plant flowers around it? A sober tree emerging from a super colourful floral design always looks stunning. A paved circle or one made of small stones will serve as a place to linger. Use plants of your choice to form a second circle around it and place a bench somewhere in the midst of it all.
You’ll only need a few shrubs to provide depth in the backyard. A tiny woodland allows you to create a clearing to welcome guests in a setting decorated to your taste. Continue reading →

The lounge style is always very popular. You can find designer furniture usually made of polyethylene, chic umbrellas, copper or silver accents, metal lanterns, refined lighting and a flashy decor. The fancy bar is never too far away.
Many people love lounging around in a laid-back atmosphere like the African way of life. This style comprises many decorative accessories. Take your pick: a leopard-printed footstool, a zebra-striped fabric, a rug with a tiger motif, a low wooden table, terracotta vases, amber-tinted jugs, brass lanterns, a Moroccan-style modular couch, masks and a solid bamboo balustrade. What about the colours? They are warm, of course. We’re in Africa, after all! Continue reading →
