Ecological single family home in Eastman with 2.7 acres of land in the woods of La Héronnière. A healthy and environmentally friendly house whose design is based on the health and comfort of its occupants, energy efficiency, renewable energy production, conservation of resources and reduction of environmental impacts.
The well-known EcoTerra house is more than just a house, it's a way of life. This house has combined modernity, design and ecology. The central idea is the conservation and production of energy.
In 2006, EcoTerra House, designed and built by Les Maisons Alouettes, was the winner of the SCHL EQuilibrium competition.
Following two years of educational use, the owners also benefited from the expertise of a whole team of researchers during their first year as the owners of this ecological home.
CHARACTERISTICS:
The house achieves a considerable proportion of more than 40% in solar source heating thanks to its strategically located windows, the use of thermal mass and shading elements. Almost 63% of windows are on the front, oriented south, they maximize natural lighting in addition to promoting passive heating. The solar radiation is absorbed and diffused by the ceramic flooring of the ground floor and the cellular concrete slab of the basement.
Geothermal heating and air conditioning system.
The extra heat generated by the compressor is used to preheat the domestic hot water, as well as the Power-Pipe® line that recovers the energy from the hot shower water.
21 photovoltaic laminates of 136W each installed on the roof. Surplus electricity produced is sold to Hydro-Québec.
The intense heat produced under the roof is also recovered, which optimizes the operation of the solar panels.
High level of insulation and superior air tightness (less than one change per hour), combined with a heat recovery ventilator.
